Making a positive impact

Our Auto Trader Community shapes
our culture
and we are committed
to making a difference
and having a
positive impact on the communities
we operate in.

Our Make a Difference Guild is committed to
empowering our employees to support our
local communities and national charities.

Volunteering initiatives

Making a difference extends to more than donating money.
As part of our Incredible Benefits, each of our employees receive two optional volunteering days to take per year to go out into the community and support causes close to their hearts.

Volunteering days have been used to support causes including
renovating green spaces, supporting dog shelters, helping battle
food poverty, providing coaching and mentoring, and much more.

Do better dos

The automotive industry is changing. Now, we proudly stand for diversity
and inclusivity. Diversity of background, identity and thought.

For too long some of our events have fallen short of the standards we live
by, causing them to be alienating, unappealing and lacking in engagement.
Now we have the chance to enhance these events. Create better experiences, increase attendance, and build connections, while representing our communities and the communities we serve.

What we want to do:

  • Make events welcoming and accessible so everyone can take part
  • Create safe and respectful environments that everyone can enjoy
  • Make events diverse in their make-up, from presenters to suppliers
  • Represent all communities in marketing and communications
  • Work with diverse planning teams to ensure balanced representation

In partnership with Planit, we’ve put together two guides (a quick reference
checklist and an in-depth deep dive) for creating Great Events for All that’ll
help everyone achieve these goals.

Community funds

Our Auto Trader Community Funds aim to deliver financial support to local community groups and charities close to our offices in Manchester, London and Hertfordshire. We operate different funds to support grassroot community organisations. We pride ourselves on our funds delivering real and visible change to our communities, whether this be paying for pitch hire for a local football team or supporting a charity buying hygiene-kits for the homeless teenagers they support.

We have continued our partnership with Forever Manchester who support us in running our well established Auto Trader Community Fund. The fund provides support for a wide range of community projects across Greater Manchester, delivering meaningful social impact to a wide range of grassroot community projects. We have also worked with Forever Manchester to set up the Auto Trader Digital Inclusion Fund which supports charities focused on reducing the digital divide.

Forever
Manchester

Our Manchester Auto Trader Community Fund, powered by the charity Forever Manchester, considers applications and awards up to £2,500, aimed at supporting grassroots projects across Greater Manchester. The social investment from Auto Trader delivers meaningful social impact to a wide range of community members.

Projects include support for Reach Out to the Community, which assists homeless and rough sleepers to access help, Can-Survive, cancer support group for ethnically diverse communities and Forget-Me-Not Buddies, who support those living with dementia. These are just some of the groups receiving funding awards – you can read more about the impact we’ve had on the Greater Manchester community since our partnership with Forever Manchester started in 2016 in the report below:

AT sponsorships

At Auto Trader, we are committed to supporting our people
and customers in their efforts to create a positive impact
and make a difference.

Our AT sponsorships support in different ways:

  • Employee sponsorships support our people through matched
funding when they take action to raise funds for causes that
    are important to them.
  • Customer sponsorships help our customers and partners achieve
    their fundraising goals.
  • Disasters Emergency Committee (‘DEC’) campaigns – we double
match all employee donations to DEC appeals.
  • Sport Sponsorships provide support for employees of Auto Trader
or family members that may be involved in sports teams/clubs
and need support with equipment or active wear.

Payroll giving

We operate a payroll giving scheme, also known as Give As
You Earn, to support our employees in making regular charitable donations in a tax efficient manner.

We are pleased to have achieved the Gold standard Payroll
Living Quality Mark.

In addition to operating payroll giving, we also match employee donations
up to £5 per month made through payroll giving and also run a monthly
giveaway where those who donate through payroll giving are entered into
a draw for a chance to win £500 towards their chosen charity/ies.
