Lentran man overjoyed after winning £42,000 electric car thanks to free competition
A retired businessman from Lentran struck gold after winning a brand new electric car in a free online competition.
John Bedwell, who is based just west of Inverness, claimed the huge prize worth over £42,000 after entering online automotive marketplace Autotrader’s Electric Car giveaway.
John who is a retired management consultant and lives in the Highlands of Scotland, finally landed the top prize of a Volvo EX30 Ultra after several attempts entering Autotrader’s prize draw.
As part of the win and to help John settle in as easy as possible with his new electric car, John has also received a contribution of up to £1,300 towards his insurance courtesy of MoneySuperMarket and a home electric vehicle charger worth £1,100
The Volvo EX30 Ultra features up to 279 miles of electric range, 315kW of power along with a max torque of 315, and an impressive 12.3-inch centre display in the interior.

It was an unexpected surprise for me when I found out that I won as I’ve only ever been used to winning a small amount here and there from the lottery! I’ve been entering the electric car giveaway each month for the past 18 months and when I got told I had won it was a great and quite unique feeling!
Receiving the keys to the car was a real joy and couldn’t have come at a better time for my wife and I. I had heart bypass surgery early this year which limited our ability to travel far so we’ll now be able to enjoy the new car, its range and everything else it has to offer on longer trips to see places, friends and family across the UK.”
