Our communities

We have a dedicated team of colleagues from across our business who are committed to driving our Make a Difference strategy, which aims to maximise the support and impact we provide to the communities in which we operate

Making a difference to our communities

We strive to have a positive impact on the communities we operate in. Our Make a Difference Guild is committed to empowering our employees to support our local communities and national charities.

The Auto Trader Community Fund, powered by the charity Forever Manchester, considers applications and awards up to £1,000 aimed at supporting grassroots projects across Greater Manchester. The Community Fund also supports projects for:

Saint Pancras Community Association in London

Camden Giving

New Horizon Youth Centre

Our employees are passionate about fundraising and Auto Trader provides matched funding as well as sports kit and equipment donations. We supported the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (‘GMCA’) Technology Fund as an emergency response to support disadvantaged young people learning from home as a result of school closures during lockdown through donations of repurposed laptops. We will continue to work with our Educational Outreach contacts to repurpose our technology going forwards.

Mental health and wellbeing are incredibly important to us. This is reflected in our support of the charity Ben, the automotive industry’s charity aimed at providing support to those working in the automotive industry and their immediate families. Last year, we pledged a two-year multi-faceted partnership with Ben and the first stage of this was a donation of £55,000 at a time when Ben made an urgent appeal for funds. Ben provides much needed support to those who need it the most. By providing not just our financial support but also through our people providing their skills and technical knowledge, we hope to be able to make a real difference to the work that Ben does.

Making a difference extends to more than donating money. As part of our Incredible Benefits, our employees receive two optional volunteering days to support worthy causes, including renovating green spaces, supporting dog shelters, helping battle food poverty and providing coaching and mentoring. Although physical volunteering during the pandemic has decreased due to Government restrictions, employees continued to volunteer with charities such as Omega Chatterbox to provide support to those who are lonely or isolated.
