Despite the charging industry having the investment and hardware required to put chargers in the ground for years now, government red tape has hampered progress, so the prospect of being able to move faster is a significant step forward.
"It'll also boost consumer confidence; with nearly four in 10 car buyers currently telling us that a lack of public chargers is stopping them from going electric. A faster roll out of chargers should ease these worries.
“And with electric vehicles currently enjoying a potential fuel cost savings of around £960 a year, if charged at home - an all-time high - there is also a big financial incentive to make the switch."
