London drivers face dearth of affordable ULEZ compliant models
Drivers in London are facing a dearth of affordable options six months after the expansion of London’s ULEZ, according to Auto Trader data.
The online marketplace’s figures show just 461 vehicles for sale for less than £2000 which meet the capital’s emissions standards – out of 24,500 vehicles available across London.
Six months on from the expansion of the scheme, on Wednesday there were 24,500 cars advertised on Auto Trader in London and 917, or 3.7%, did not comply with ULEZ rules. This is down from 7.35% (1,830 vehicles) six months before expansion and 6.29% (1,577 vehicles) on the 29th August – the day the ULEZ expanded.
For those on a tight budget, there are few options for affordable motoring left in London six months on from the introduction of the extended ULEZ zone. With fewer than 500 cars for sale below the £2000 limit of the Mayor’s scrappage scheme, many could be faced with the unpalatable choice of paying up to £3000 in Ulez fees or being forced off the road altogether.
