14th Auto Trader Retailer Awards open for self-nominations

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Auto Trader Retailer Awards, which marks 14 years of celebrating the very best in automotive retail. The annual celebration recognises those businesses that are pushing the industry forward, leading from the front and inspiring their peers.

With an average of 57 million cross-platform visits each month, Auto Trader is the UK’s largest digital automotive marketplace, and with a 40-year heritage, is amongst the best-known consumer brands in the country. Winning both a Retailer Award trophy and importantly, given the continued digital first behaviours observed during lockdown, a winner’s or finalist’s logo to sit alongside adverts on Auto Trader is an extremely effective way for retailers to demonstrate their excellence to potential car buyers, and to build trust in their brand.

Auto Trader’s Group Sales Director, Darren Moon, explained: “The fact that most retailers in March were trading at 90% of pre-pandemic volumes despite forecourt closures is testament to their sheer determination and the huge success they’ve made in adapting to changing consumer preferences. As well as celebrating the industry’s remarkable achievements this year, we want to help businesses utilise our consumer brand recognition to stand out from their competitors, which in today’s increasingly challenging retail landscape, is more important than ever.”

Taking place digitally on Thursday 8th July, this year’s Awards will consist of seven categories, including three which are self-nominated and judged by an independent panel of experts, including senior executives from Google and Right Move, as well as the global advertising agency, The Specialist Works, and executive search agency, Ennis & Co.

  • The Innovation Award is designed to showcase an exceptional project, campaign or strategy that met an operational challenge or a business objective. The judges will be especially keen to hear examples of how businesses successfully adapted to the challenges of the pandemic. It is open to all car, commercial vehicle (CV) and bike retailers.
  • Also open to all car, CV and bike retailers, the People and Culture award will recognise those businesses that have gone above and beyond for their colleagues over the last 12 months in supporting and engaging them throughout the lockdowns.
  • The Rising Star award is a new self-nomination category for 2021 and is designed to recognise new businesses that are less than three years old but are already making a mark on the industry.

Retailers have until 31st May to enter for free.

The remaining categories - Retailer of the Year Award, Digital Experience Award, Customer Experience Award, and Customer Choice Award - will see all of Auto Trader’s circa 13,000 retailer partners entered automatically, with the winners determined either by the opinions of thousands of car buyers, from an in-depth analysis of millions of data points, or a comprehensive mystery shopping programme. The winners of each prestigious award category represent a standard of excellence within the automotive market recognised by the trade and consumers alike.
