What we need now is stability and consistent policy - not a fresh debate every time the political weather shifts. Electric vehicles are taking a rising share of new car registrations, and interest on Autotrader is at record levels. While there needs to be a degree of flexibility to address the challenges manufacturers face in delivering the transition at pace, removing politics from the policy framework will help sustain consumer interest and keep the shift to EVs on track.
